ECNP Congress

Scientific programme

The scientific programme is considered the most important part of the ECNP Congress. As a rule the scientific programme consists of plenary lectures, scientific symposia and educational update, brainstorming and poster sessions.

For each congress an independent Scientific Programme Committee (SPC) is established, which endeavours to compose a high-quality, well-balanced scientific programme. In this process, the SPC may initiate new types of sessions. The first announcement of the congress includes a call for full symposia. The proposed symposia are used by the SPC to establish a high standard, up-to-date scientific programme in neuropsychopharmacology and related disciplines. Proposers should not invite speakers and/or do not need to organise funding, as invitations and refunds for speakers and chairs are arranged and supported by ECNP.

The scientific programme is presented for European and American accreditation.

Poster sessions are scheduled during the long lunch break to enable participants to have ample time to discuss the data presented. Additional emphasis is placed on the posters by awarding the most outstanding posters with poster awards and the best papers for posters by young scientists with travel awards.

Participation at the ECNP Congress is open for interested individuals and groups.
Young scientists are encouraged to present posters by offering free registration in case the submitted paper is accepted for publication in the journal European Neuropsychopharmacology.

Disclosure

ECNP requests speakers, chairs and poster presenters to disclose potential conflicts of interest. This will allow the audience to take potential conflicts of interest into account when assessing the objectivity of the presentation.

Speakers are requested to disclose potential conflicts of interest regarding their current presentation in the first slide of their presentation. Chairs are requested to disclose potential conflict of interest regarding the topics of the presentations during their session in the first slide of the session. Poster presenters are requested to disclose potential conflicts of interest regarding their current poster presentation at the bottom of their poster. Potential conflicts of interest can involve: grants, honoraria, shares, paid positions on advisory boards, etc.

Support

The only possibilities for industry-sponsored activities during the ECNP Congresses are satellite symposia and exhibition stands.

Companies are treated as equal to one another as possible and there is no first-come-first-served policy. Applications for satellite symposia should be sent in before a certain deadline and the programmes have to be approved by the Scientific Programme Committee of the congress and it is mandatory to obtain CME accreditation. For the approved satellite symposia a balanced allocation is developed by ECNP with respect to timeslots and locations.

The exhibition should be medically oriented. Exhibition space is allocated after the deadline for receiving applications.
