32nd ECNP Congress - scientific news
Bio’s and outlines online
Who are all the excellent experts speaking at our congress? You can easily get to know them via our scientific programme. Next to their names, many of the speakers now have a short biography online.
Also added are short outlines of every session, so you can see the content at a glance.
Abstract submission
This year around 1,200 abstracts were submitted, which are currently going through the review process for publication and presentation at the congress. At the moment, more than eighty members of our Scientific Advisory Panel are reviewing these abstracts. It is a huge job, which they do voluntarily. ECNP is happy to have such a large group of loyal people performing such an important task.
Brainstorming Sessions
Nine exciting Brainstorming Sessions are added to the scientific programme. These sessions are created by ECNP Members, on a topic of their choice. These early bird sessions give you the opportunity to brainstorm along with our Members in a small setting. There will be three Brainstorming Sessions in parallel on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday 07.45.
Highlighted sessions
Women-in-Science Session
In this session, Francesca Cirulli will first introduce the ALBA Network. This network was recently founded by a group of leading European scientists to promote equality and diversity in the brain sciences.
Following the introduction of ALBA by Francesca, there will be time for networking and for suggesting ideas, on how ECNP could further promote equality in ‘Neuroscience Applied’.
ECNP’s Got Talent
ECNP entertains numerous activities for Early Career Scientists, such as schools and workshops. In this new format session, some of the brightest and most talented Early Career Scientists in applied neuroscience from Europe will perform on stage. Be prepared for high-performance presentations, excellent science – and a jury that is as entertaining as it is relentless!
New Findings Symposium
“I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me.” Isaac Newton
During this symposium, ECNP gives the opportunity to eight promising Early Career Scientists to present their latest findings. The speakers are selected from the poster presenters at the ECNP Workshop for Early Career Scientists in Europe, which is held every year in March in Nice, France.

2019 Venice School – a great success!
It was already the seventh ECNP School of Child and Adolescent Neuropsychopharmacology, that was held on 31 March-5 April 2019 in Venice, Italy!
A very diverse group of 49 people from 28 different countries came together to learn from an international faculty of experts in basic and clinical paediatric neuropsychopharmacology.
The School always takes place on the beautiful San Servolo Island. Until 1978, the buildings on the island belonged to a psychiatric hospital. Currently the island hosts a number of institutions, as well as the ‘Insane Asylum Museum of San Servolo’, which exhibits items that belonged to the psychiatric hospital.
