Keynote lecture: 'Targeting glutamate in psychiatric disease' 

Dr. Krystal is the Robert L. McNeil, Jr., Professor of Translational Research, Chair of the Department of Psychiatry, and Professor of Neuroscience at the Yale University School of Medicine. He is also Chief of Psychiatry at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He is a graduate of the University of Chicago, Yale University School of Medicine, and the Yale Psychiatry Residency Training Program. He has published over 500 papers and reviews on the neurobiology and treatment of schizophrenia, alcoholism, post-traumatic stress disorder, and depression. His research program unites psychopharmacology, neuroimaging, molecular genetics, and computational neuroscience. He is best known for the discovery of the rapid and robust antidepressant effects of ketamine. He is the Director of the NIAAA Center for the Translational Neuroscience of Alcoholism and the Clinical Neuroscience Division of the VA National Center for PTSD. Dr. Krystal is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Medicine and he has received awards including the ACNP Joel Elkes Award, the Anna-Monika Foundation Depression Research Prize, and the APA-Kempf Schizophrenia Research Award. Currently, he serves on the NIMH National Mental Health Advisory Council, is president of the International College of Neuropsychopharmacology (CINP; 2016-2018), and he edits Biological Psychiatry (IF=11.21).
