Roadmap

There is a need to improve care but also to improve knowledge on bipolar disorder. As frameworks devoted to develop disease-oriented care and research in the same setting, expert centres are a relevant answer to this issue. The development of European networks of centres for diseases require a particular concentration of resources or expertise, which would also be focal points for research, information dissemination and evaluation and medical training. Providing access to large cohorts and to heterogeneous patients populations assessed using common and standardised tools, the ECNP-ENBREC consortium will strengthen the EU scientific output in the domain, facilitate the development of innovative diagnostic and treatment strategies in cooperation with the EU pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector (including the EU Research and Innovation programme Horizon2020), and increase the quality of healthcare delivered to bipolar patients.
